He started to play capoeira in 2002 in Nový Jičín and, together with his club, he joined ABADÁ-Capoeira in January 2003. In October 2008 he leaves his home town and comes to Olomouc to study at university. At the beginning he helps as an assistant coach in the Olomouc club and later on, in March 2009, he is appointed the head coach of the club. In Autumn 2009 he decides to follow Professor Paçoca together with the whole Czech Capoeira Association (ČAC) to be part of the brand new organization called VEM CAMARÁ CAPOEIRA. In December of the same year he establishes the civil society organization called VEM CAMARÁ CAPOEIRA - OLOMOUC O.S. (the current name is Vem Camará Capoeira - Olomouc z.s.) where he becomes the head coach and the chairman of the club.

In May 2010 he gets the blue belt, which is the first master degree in capoeira. Two years later, in May 2012, he gets the blue-green belt.
In June 2014 he gets the green belt – the third master degree in capoeira.
In June 2015 he gets the green-violet belt – the fourth master degree in capoeira.

Ondřej Novák is one of the capoeira pioneers in the Czech Republic. Some of his great merits for capoeira: sports events, workshops, regular training sessions, summer camps for children.

Apart from his duties as a club official and a head coach, he is also always active in important projects and competitions all around the world, e.g.:

  • 2008 - participating in the European Championship in Brussels (Belgium) where he made it to the best 16 in the orange-orange/blue belt category
  • 2009 – 3rd place in the first Czech Capoeira Open organized by Vem Camará Capoeira (yellow/orange-orange/blue belt category)
  • 2012 – participating in the fourth World Open organized by A.C.A.P.O.E.I.R.A (Itauná - Brazil)
  • 2013 - 2nd place in the third European Open organized by Vem Camará Capoeira (blue-green/violet belt category)
  • 2014 - 3rd place in the eighth Czech Capoeira Open organized by Vem Camará Capoeira (blue-green/violet belt category)
  • 2014 – 2x 4th place in the Catalonia Cup organized by Gingado Capoeira Association (category for graduados and instrutores + the absolute category)
  • 2015 - 2nd place in the ninth Czech Capoeira Open organized by Vem Camará Capoeira (blue-green/violet belt category)
  • 2017 - in July 2017 he gains the 5th master stage: the roxa belt and becomes INTRUTOR of Vem Camará Capoeira Association.
